April News From The Ranch

Happy almost spring, or winter, or maybe spring! There are a few wild flowers starting to peak out and even some green grass showing itself. With the arrival of spring comes the dreaded shedding! Many of us are already experiencing the itch and sneeze and our horses begging to be scratched. At the same time the weather is all over the place with warm and sunny one day and cold, blustery and wet the next (or all in the same day). With the season change we always give a little immune system booster with Phyto-quench or even just Vitamin C. CocoSoya as well as CocoOmega will give your horse good Omega support during this time of year and help that new coat come in shiny and healthy.

As many of you know Uckele is now being distributed by Smartpak and with that there are of course changes. Most of the products you love are still available and in stock waiting for you. There are a few others that are currently not available. Last month we told you that we were looking for suitable alternatives and we have found them with Med Vet Pharmaceuticals (MVP). We have been trying out their products the past few months and are very happy with them. They have the NASC seal of approval so you know that you are only paying for what you want and nothing extra. Their pricing is competitive in the quality nutrition realm. To start we have added Psyllium, E+Se and Senior Flex HA. If there are other products you would like added please let us know. We only carry the items you want.

Speaking of new products available, Standlee Premium Western Forage has added some great new items. If you are interested in any of the new items let us know and if there is enough interest we will give them a try. New on the list is Standlee Forage Plus Gastric Support Pellets and Alfalfa Forage Bites in multiple flavors to round out the selection of treats.

Please take note of the scheduled delivery days. Now that the weather is getting sometimes slightly more predictable we will be sticking to the schedule. We have a lot of things planned for the year so staying on schedule will be critical to our sanity. Screen shot the schedule so you have it handy. If you don’t want to wait till next week you can send me your order and pick it up at the Nevada Derby ride this weekend in Fort Churchill. It is going to be a really fun weekend with a lot going on. If you have ever been curious about endurance then come on out. We will have Intro rides of shorter distances as well as the 25 and 50 mile rides. Don’t want to ride but still want to have a really fun day with like minded horse people? Come out and volunteer. No special skills needed – just enjoy being around other horsey people doing horsey things.

This is our go to product at the change of seasons or any time our horses need a little immune boost. With the constantly changing weather and increased exercise this is a great product to offer seasonally to help maintain a healthy strong immune system.

We carry the 5lb tub of Bug NM and this is a total game changer to keep the bugs at bay. We start it early – as in we started it in March – to make sure it is in the system and the horses are already not too tasty to the bugs that are beginning to come out. Anything we can do to keep the bugs away and this one is easy. The horses love it and it really works.

It is always best to get your order for the month in as early as possible and to plan ahead. PLEASE get your orders in by Sunday evening to make sure your order is on a truck when it heads your way. We are going to be as efficient as possible and take advantage of all good weather once the truck arrives. We will not deliver during wet weather. It is just too hard on some of the feeds to be exposed to moisture if you don’t have the ability to open the bags and let them breath a bit upon delivery. Putting the schedule out a few months ahead still seems to be working well, so we will continue to post three months of deliveries at a time. With fuel prices as high as they are we will be trying to be as efficient as possible in our delivery days. We are making fewer additional trips to town as well so our ability to fit in a last minute order is a little limited so may not happen as fast as you have experienced in the past. Special trips to town for that “I have to have it or else…” order will have a $10 delivery fee. If you need to, you can always stop by and pick up anything you might need, just give us a call ahead of time to schedule. The sooner you get your orders in the better we are able to plan, but not later than 5pm the night before your scheduled delivery day. With winter will come weather than can impact our deliveries. If we have to make changes we will let you know. It is always a good idea to plan ahead and have enough to carry your through an extra week if the weather keeps us from delivering as planned. Thank you
