April News From The Ranch

The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us in contact with the rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit and freedom ~.Sharon Ralls Lemon

It has been quite a month for sure. It appears that most of you are starting to get out and enjoy more time with the horses with the nicer weather. The biggest challenge seems to be with the ever rising gas prices that are affecting not only our ability to travel to events but also the cost of everything we buy to include hay. Around here that is getting to be more difficult it seems as the shortage from last year is becoming a reality as so many of us try to get just a little more to carry us over to first cut. Hopefully we will get some good spring rain to bring in a good crop of nice hay this year.

Along that same note we are working hard to keep our prices down, or at the very least not raise prices. We will be short on a couple of things like beet pulp pellets and timothy pellets until the next truck comes in May. We are hoping to avoid exorbitant freight charges by holding off and doing a large order rather than a smaller order that would result in a huge price increase. We have plenty of Beet Pulp Shreds and other grass pellets to choose from in the meantime. We appreciate your patience as we try to work through the fuel issues as best we can.

As we plan for the next load we want to hear from you. If you would like us to get any Certified Weed Free Compressed Alfalfa bales we will need to know how many you anticipate needing so we can get the right number. Certified Timothy Bales are in stock and will remain fully stocked with those.

Just in case you thought we were all doom and gloom, think again. Standlee is back with it’s always popular Spring promotion. From April 1 to May 31, 2022 you can go to www.standleeforage.com and download a coupon to save $3 for every bagged or Compressed bale product you buy. Yes, you do have to print off a coupon for every bag. We will not print coupons off for anyone. You can put several on one sheet if you like and they can even be black and white but you do have to have one for every bag you want to save $3 on.

Accounts will be credited when coupons are received. If an item you want is out of stock you can go ahead and pre-order and coupons will be honored when the products arrive.

On March 21, 2022, EasyCare published a recall notice regarding their E-Z Ride Nylon Stirrups sold between July 1, 2020 and July 31, 2021. Use of this product should be discontinued immediately.

We have notified those of you who purchased stirrups from us already. We also have a number of requests for new stirrups.

Customers that purchased E-Z Ride Nylon Stirrups any time between July 1, 2020 and July 31, 2021 are eligible to receive a replacement by contacting EasyCare directly.

Here is a link to that online form – https://easycareinc.wufoo.com/forms/kh21snz0tv87y2/

If you have any questions or concerns please let us know.

Now that our endurance season has started it looks like there is an event here in the local Reno area nearly every month. We are always looking for volunteers and new members. You do not need to ride endurance or even have a horse for that matter, just a joy for being outside and enjoying the company of horse loving people. You can find out more information or sign up at http://www.nastr.org. If you would like to see some new trails and ride shorter distances at slower pace then trial marking with a seasoned rider who knows there way around, or even unmarking a marked trail might be a great way to do just that. The next even is Saturday April 2 at Fort Churchill State Park, Scout Camp. Come join us!

Delivery Days

Since it seems that everyone starts to get busy planning ahead for spring and summer we thought we would try putting out the schedule a few months in advance to make it easier. With fuel prices as high as they are we will be trying to be as efficient as possible in our delivery days. We are making fewer additional trips to town as well so our ability to fit in a last minute order is a little limited so may not happen as fast as you have experienced in the past. If needed you can always stop by and pick up anything you might need just give us a call ahead of time to schedule. The sooner you get your orders in the better we are able to plan but not later than 5pm the night before your scheduled delivery day. Thank you
